Time Well Spent

Today I have a card to share that I created for three different challenges, hence my title, "Time Well Spent":

Stacey's Curtain Call Colour Challenge-So Saffron, More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake
Stamping 411 Sketch
Pals Paper Arts-Scallops

The colours were right up my alley and I knew I wanted to make a distressed, sponged card with the warm yellows and red.  I also wanted to use the simple sketch at Stampin' 411 to be a jumping off point.  My scallops are created with the scallop edge border punch and the matching corner punch.  I love those punches!

My card measures 5"x5" as I wanted to create a square card using the sketch.  I have to admit, this card did not come together for me as I had envisioned it?  I think I needed to change the card base but I decided to post it anyway, sometimes a card will grow on my even if initially I didn't like it at first!  Does that ever happen to you?

Thanks for stopping by!

The Paper Players and SUO Challenges

Another Sunday is here and that means it is time for the Paper Players Challenge this week!  Nance is our hostess and it challenging us to use fabric on our cards!  I know you are probably thinking to yourself, "Fabric?  On a card?"  or "I don't have any fabric!!!"  Well I am fabricless at this point in time, so I decided to play with ribbon!

Ribbon is such a wonderful way to add elegance to a card!  I am in love with the Stampin' Up 5/8" Satin Ribbon and today I have used Marina Mist Satin Ribbon on my card!!  My card also uses the new Sale-A-Bration set called BLISS.  You can get this set for FREE with a $60 order!!!  It is a great deal right now and I knew that I wanted this set!!  I could imagine myself using it for wedding cards or even anniversary cards!!  I am also entering this card into the Stampin' Up Only Challenge to use a Sale-a-Bration set on my creation!!!

The main flourish stamp is used on the three panels of my card.  I used Night of Navy ink.  The flourish is also white embossed on Night of Navy at the front of the card.  To add something extra special to my card, I added a row of rhinestones to my ribbon, adding a little elegance!

I hope you get the chance to visit the Paper Players and check out the wonderful creation the DT has made this week!!  Even if you don't have fabric, trying using some ribbon and see where it takes you!!!  Be sure to link up your card so we can stop by your blog for a visit!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lesley

With my report cards almost done, I felt it only fitting to play along with fellow educator and cardmaking Vixen Sandra Farrell over at the Stampin' Royalty.  I also LOVE the colours at Arielle's Colour Q this week and so here I am posting my card.  I needed a thank you card for a co-worker who brought me a delectable piece of White Chocolate Cheesecake...oh yeah, it was tasty!!!  She gave it to me yesterday at work and mentioned I should take it home and share with Corey...welll...sorry Big Guy...the cheesecake did not survive the drive home.  YUM!

Anyway...to my card...I hope she likes it!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Liebster Award

My blogging pal and fellow Paper Player Nance has given me a wonderful award!!  She wrote some sweet things on her blog and made my day!  I think Nance is one of the nicest people I have ever met online and she is so talented.  I was truly touched by her words.

The Liebster Blog Award is given to bring newer blogs to light and originated in Germany. It's a great way to share blogs that might not otherwise be seen or ones you want to share with others. They should have less than 150 followers.

As a recipient of this award I must share the love and pay it forward by:
1  Creating a post where I blog about the Liebster award & reveal my 3 blog picks
2  Let the honorees know that I selected them
3  Copy & paste the blog award on my blog

Trying to choose 3 blogs was a toughie...here are the 3 blogs I have chosen.  Hopefully they will be new to you!

New Upcoming Card Class (featuring a new set from the Sale-A-Bration)

I have a fun card class coming up on March 4th.  I will be teaching how to make these three cards using the Sunny Garden Designer Paper and the Sweet Summer Sale-A-Bration Stamp set.  The cards are sweet and upbeat!

The first card is a Tent Topper Card using the Bird Punch.  I love this cute little fella!

The second card uses a punch to create a little fence for the flowers to peek over.  We will also use Blender Pens and I will be teaching how to achieve a "watercolour" look with the Blender Pen.

The last card is "Joy Fold" card...this one is super fun and easy to make.  It has an unique opening to it that I am sure you will think is sweet too!!

The cost of the class is $15.40 which includes:
  • the Sunny Garden Designer Paper used on these cards
  • tax
  • shipping
  • the 3 cards and 3 envelopes
I hope you will join me in my workshop on Friday, March 4th from 7-9pm.   Please RSVP by Wednesday February 23rd at 5pm.

Lesley

Card Club- Wednesday, February 23 and Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge

I have my Stamper's 6 Club on Wednesday and this week we will be learning a brand new technique called "Black Magic".  This technique is also refered to as the "Chalkboard" technique because it uses Chalks/Pastels on black or dark paper.

I used the great sketch from Stamping 411 for the first card I made with the black magic technique!!  I love the Stamping 411 sketch challenge site because they have so many great ideas, tips and simple sketches that allow you to be creative!!!!

Here is their sketch:

Here is the card I created!  I elongated the panel and change the height of the card.  I used the wonderful "Just Believe" set for both of my cards, the solid image makes it the perfect choice for the Black Magic Technique.  The Old Olive Designer Paper is from the Bold Brights Designer Paper Pack.

Thanks for stopping by!!  I sure hope my Club ladies like the cards we are going to make this week!!!

Lesley

Paper Players Sketch Challenge

After three weeks without a computer, I am back in business!  My sister's wonderful fella fixed my computer.  I had a problem with it, we don't know what it was but it is back working smoothly again.  It has been far too long since I have posted a card and I am excited to be posting my Paper Players Challenge card today!!!

Here is the sketch, designed by me, I hope you like it!!!

This card is an unusual shape and can be altered to fit the shape you would like.

Measurement:
  • My card is a piece of 8" x 9" piece of cardstock for the base.
  • Scored at 4" on the 8" side.
  • This card will fit a Legal Sized Envelope
When I designed my card, I had to make it from memory as the sketch was on my computer and so my card is a little off from the sketch.  I used my new Bold Brights Designer Paper Pack and my new stamp goodies from the Sale-A-Bration...Sweet Summer and So Happy for You stamp sets.  I LOVE them.

I hope you get the chance to join us at the Paper Players this week to play along!!!  Click here to see the wonderful samples from the Paper Players Design Team!!!

Lesley
